This Week at The Woodshed

The kale tastes sweeter as we harvest in the snow, each leaf feeling like a treasure. We are ever so grateful for the Summer harvest we put away for these colder times. It is always worth the effort!

With snow falling and the temperature dropping outside, this week calls for comfort food.

We are grateful for our favourite fishing family, Dane, and Becky, with the Pacific Prowler this week. 

The kitchen this week is full of warming soups, fragrant and nourishing. It is officially soup season!

Pots of squash soup are simmering on the stove, with the warm fragrance of late-season local ginger sautéing in butter and dark chocolatey cakes baking in the oven. All of the good things.

We have been energized to bring some lovely Spanish flavours into the kitchen for this week's pre-order menu.

The green beans are still growing along with the soft herbs like parsley and tarragon, while our Winter kale planting is growing like crazy, preparing for the colder months.

The benches outside the kitchen door are piled high with gorgeous squash, just brought in from the field and full of endless possibilities. This week we will make another batch of squash and sage lasagne.

The kitchen is full of inspiration and beauty as we shift gears from late Summer into our new Autumn menu.
