Daffodils, plum blossoms & local citrus abundance
What a wonderful few weeks we have had since reopening the shop! It feels like Spring is right around the corner; happy bunches of daffodils and plum blossoms are brightening up our kitchen and shop, filling all of us with excitement for the new season to come.
This week we have an abundance of local citrus from Jane at The Garden and Nicky from Epron Valley Farm. We are making a big batch of fresh citrus curd for our cheesecakes, adding citrus to our local butter lettuce salads and also to our flourless citrus olive oil cakes. Red Wing Farm delivered gorgeous local eggs as well; we love working with such fabulous quality eggs laid by well-loved hens right across the valley from us.
We also have beautiful fresh lamb this week from Redwing Farm! This wonderful, well raised lamb has inspired us to create a Greek menu for pre-order this week.
On the menu we have Lamb Moussaka, Spanakopita with fresh local greens, Tzatziki made with organic yoghurt, fresh mint and cucumber, Avgolemono Soup (our favourite Greek soup with organic chicken, fresh lemon, egg and rice), Greek Lemon Potatoes and our decadent and creamy Rice Pudding for dessert.
We are pretty excited about picnic season coming up and are working on lots of great new dishes to fill your picnic baskets with. This week we will have some wonderful new dips and spreads in the shop, inspired by the bright and beautiful flavours of the Middle East, as well as fresh crisp salads, salad dressings, our new marinated bean salad, and olives ready to take picnicking!
We look forward to seeing you in the shop this week!
