Our Winter Holiday Menu
We are very excited about our holiday menus this year! We are offering a special menu for Christmas as well as a very special Spanish themed New Year’s Eve menu. We will be sending out our New Year’s in Your Home menu out in the next few days.
Our For 1: Christmas Turkey Dinner Set features Byron Family Farm Turkey with all of the trimmings; Rosemary Cream Mashed Potatoes, Local Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Honey Roasted Vegetables and our rich Turkey Gravy. We have designed this set per person, so it can be easily multiplied for larger groups. Our vegetarian dinner set features a roasted vegetable Wellington with all of the trimmings. All that is needed for our holiday menu items is a warming in the oven before serving. Our cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, honey roasted veggies and stuffing are also available to order à la carte.
A highlight of the holiday season in our kitchen is our traditional Tourtière, made with spiced Vancouver Island pork and our buttery pastry. We recommend heating your Tourtière in the oven and then serving it with our fresh cranberry relish. We always enjoy a warm Tourtière on Christmas Eve as part of an easy and elegant holiday spread, along with with pickles, olives, marinated artichoke hearts, cold smoked tuna and salmon and, of course, our Nanaimo Bars.
For dessert, we have fresh Sugar Pumpkin Pies, Local Saltspring Apple Pies, and a wonderful Trifle made with layers of vanilla cake, creme anglaise, fruit compote and softly whipped cream. We also have our citrus olive oil cake with sugared cranberries, Nanaimo Bars and our peppermint brownies available to order.
We are also taking special orders for Christmas caviar. Our Oscietra caviar is sustainably harvested from sturgeon in Poland by the Antonius family; and is truly incredible. Oscietra caviar is complex and beautiful, with notes of earthy minerality, creamy butter, toasted hazelnuts and the subtle richness of brie. It pairs perfectly with sparkling wine and we think it adds so much extra sparkle to the holidays! Christmas orders must be placed by December 18th and will be ready to pick up in the shop on December 24th between 11-2 pm. The shop will be closing early at 3 pm on Christmas Eve so that our staff may enjoy the holiday with their families.
We will be closing for our annual seasonal closure this year on the evening of Sunday, January 12th and reopening on Wednesday, February 12th. This break gives our whole team time to rest, rejuvenate and prepare for another incredible year! We will be offering a great preorder menu the week before we close so that you can stock up your fridge and freezer with your favourite Woodshed dishes.
